First few days
- Burning and urgency from the stent are common
- Some blood in urine, especially after activity, is normal
- Continue high fluid intake
- Take medication exactly as prescribed
Living with a stent
- Avoid heavy lifting and long travel
- Pain in the flank while passing urine can occur
- Note your stent removal date — never leave it in longer than advised
Contact the clinic if
- Fever with chills
- Persistent heavy bleeding
- Unable to pass urine
- Uncontrolled pain
